AGREEMENT
between the
UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY
EASTERN DISTRICT
and the
BRAKEMEN, YARDMEN AND TRAIN BAGGAGEMEN
represented by
BROTHERHOOD OF RAILROAD
TRAINMEN
TWO AND THREE WEEK VACATIONS-
DIVIDED INTO TWO PERIODS
BRAKEMEN—YARDMEN—TRAIN BAGGAGEMEN
It is agreed:
1. Brakemen, yardmen and
train baggagemen qualified to re-
ceive
two or three weeks vacation under the agreement effective
January
1, 1954, who are working at points where extra board*
are
maintained, may request permission to take one week or two
consecutive
weeks of their vacation in advance of the scheduled
vacation
period under the same conditions that such employes are
permitted to change their vacations in accordance with the provi-
sions
of agreements quoted as follows:
Brakemen—Section 6 of
agreement, "Vacation Schedules",
dated February
10, 1954:
"Vacations as selected in accordance with the above
will be
shown
on the vacation schedule separately for conductors and
brakemen for each seniority roster, and copy furnished the re-
spective local chairmen. Dates selected will" not be subject to
change
thereafter except that if it is found there is a surplus
of men in any seniority district, employes desiring vacation at
that time may be relieved on
request of the individual and ap-
proval of the officer in charge, giving
preference to senior men,
and assigned vacation period
cancelled.
Yardmen—Section 5 of agreement, "Vacation Schedules'*, dated
December 30, 1953 :
"Vacations
as selected in accordance with the above will be
shown on a vacation schedule for yardmen for each division
seniority district, and copy furnished the local chairmen. Date*
selected will not be subject to change thereafter except that if
it is found there is a surplus of men in any seniority district,
employes desiring vacations at that time may
be relieved on
request of the individual and approval of the officer in charge,
giving- preference to senior men, and assigned vacation period
cancelled."
Train Baggagemen—Section 5 of agreement,
"Vacation Sched-
ules—Train Baggagemen", dated
January 8, 1954:
"Vacations
as selected in accordance with the above will be
shown on the vacation schedule, and copy furnished the local
chairman. Dates selected will not be
suoject to change there-
after, except that if it is found there is a surplus of rnen in any
seniority district, employes desiring vacations at that time may
be relieved on request of the individual and approval of the
officer in charge, giving preference to senior men, and assigned
vacation period cancelled."
2. The request showing the advance period
selected shall be
made in writing by the individual brakeman,
yardman or train
baggageman who may
be relieved at that time if there it a surplus
of men available at the point where
extra, board is maintained,
upon approval of the offcer in
charge, giving preference to senior
men who have made requests.
3. Brakemen, yardmen and
train baggagemen who are per-
mitted
to advance one or two consecutive weeks of their vacation
will
submit separate time returns for the advanced portion, and
the
regularly scheduled portion, and payroll allowances will be
made accordingly.
4. It is understood this
agreement applies only at point! where
extra
boards are maintained, and that no time claims will be
recognized
because of the splitting of vacations.
5. This agreement is effective January 1,
1957 and will auto-
matically terminate ten days after either party serves written
notice upon the other of desire to terminate it.
