Dear Sir:
This refers to your notice dated May 1, 196? served
under the provisions of Section 6 of the Railway Labor Act, as
amended, requesting compensation and insurance when required
to ride in a Company, public or private conveyance, which was
last discussed with you in conference on October 17, 1967.
Effective November 1, 1967, the Carrier will secure
and maintain a group policy to cover all employes under seventy (70)
years of age who are working
in crafts and classes represented by
the Brotherhood of Railroad
Trainmen, and when such employes are
required by order of the Carrier to ride in any off-track land
vehicle of a common carrier, or in a private passenger automobile
on Company business.
The Group Policy
will provide for the following benefits:
Accidental death or dismemberment - $100,000.00
Eighty 80%) percent of basic weekly income limited
to a maximum amount of $100 per
week for a period of 156
consecutive weeks.
The Group Policy is subject to the standard exclusions
such as disease, self-inflicted injuries, suicide or
attempted suicide, etc.
The General Chairman will be furnished a copy of the
insurance policy.
The Group Policy shall not be cancelled without at
least thirty days1
advance notice to the Brotherhood of
Railroad Trainmen.
It is
understood, hospital and medical expenses
incurred as a result of an accident while traveling
in the afore-mentioned vehicles on company orders,
are not affected by this Group
Policy.
The foregoing is in full settlement of your notice
dated May 1, 1967.
