A G R E E M E N T
between the

UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY
(Northwestern District)

and the

UNITED TRANSPORTATION UNION - C&T Divisions

          Paragraph (d) of Rule 29 of the Agreement between the Company and the United Transportation Union - C&T Divisions, effective October 1, 1975, which governs the filling of trainmen's vacancies at outside points, reads as follows:

"(d) Extra Man At Outside Points - Priority: When two or more extra men are filling vacancies on the same crew at an outside point, and regular men report on different days the junior extra man will be relieved first and the senior man last.

            "NOTE 1:  To avoid the senior extra trainman being required to fill a third vacancy in accordance with the above, he will be relieved and returned to the extra board at the completion of the day's assignment, when the regular man, whose place he is filling on a second vacancy, reports for duty.

           "In the event an extra man filling a vacancy at an outside point is required to double onto another assignment but is returned without loss of a shift to the job he is filling, such a double will not be considered as filling a second vacancy."

        The Organization has requested amendment of this rule to grant the senior trainman the option of remaining on the vacancy at the outside point
or being relieved.

          Therefore, IT IS AGREED:

          Rule 29(d) is amended to read as follows:

          (d) Extra Man At Outside Points - Priority:  When two or more extra men are filling vacancies on the same crew at an outside point, and regular men report on different days, the senior extra man will have the option of electing to be relieved or to remain at the outside point.

NOTE 1:  It To avoid an extra man being required to fill a third vacancy in accordance with the above, he will be relieved and returned to the extra board at completion of the day's assignment, when the regular man, whose place he is filling on a second vacancy, reports for duty.

          In the event an extra man filling, a vacancy at an outside point is required to double onto another assignment but is returned without loss of a shift to the job he is filling, such a double will not be considered as filling a second vacancy.       

          This agreement shall become effective November 15, 1982 and thereafter, subject to termination upon 30 days written notice by either party upon the other. Upon termination, should that occur, Rule 29(d) and Note 1 thereunder of the current agreement shall be restored 1n their entirety.
